From a young age I was a seeker, and trauma survivor; I grew into a thriver and healer – helping to light the way for fellow seekers on the path. I know that healing complex trauma is a long process and you can certainly live fully and integrate it into your being.
I became vegetarian at 14, campaigned for animal rights and green issues in my youth. As a teenager I was fascinated by astrology and taught myself how to draw up and interpret a birth chart. From here I explored many area’s in the ‘alternative field’ including energy healing, vibrational therapies, yoga, meditation, Buddhism and personal development courses.
After travelling I started training as a nurse in the UK but kept a foot in the natural therapy world as well as the medical field. For my own healing and well-being I meditated and practised yoga to manage PTSD symptoms, stress and anxiety. I also trained in energy healing and attended meditation retreats, and did personal therapy sessions.
After moving to Australia in 2000, and 17 years in Oncology Nursing, I decided it was time for a change so I trained as a yoga teacher and therapist. After many years of study, I decided to set up my own business. In fact I ended up with two: Labour TENS and my own Therapy practice. I started working at Qi Natural Therapies and Yoga then launched my own Holistic Therapy Centre The lotus Centre in 2009.
Now the two worlds really do come together with new brain research into mindfulness-based therapies and neuroplasticity. I am grateful to the scientists that have led the way in researching this field, and the ancient masters, yogi’s and spiritual teachers that have kept the old ways alive. So we can use these ancient healing practices with confidence in a modern therapeutic way.
